Hawks Get One-Run Win at South Beach
|
The Laredo Hawks eked out a 3-2 win versus the South Beach Blaze at The Ballpark on the Beach. Nobody did more than pitcher Kevin Horton. He was terrific. The loss lowers the South Beach record to 3-5.
Laredo used the timely hitting of Qing-lai Mak to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Hawks on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Mak told the Laredo Citizen.
