Hermit Crabs Need Extra Innings to Top Godfathers, 5-3
|
Huntington Hermit Crabs starter Homer Sanders was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Pontiac Godfathers, 5-3. The winner in relief was Juan Ramírez. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 4 innings. He now owns a record of 6-1. The save went to Juan González, his 8th this season.
Huntington used the clutch hitting of Gary Clark to snag the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Hermit Crabs ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Sanders said.
Huntington, at 36-17, is 5 games up in the Silver A.
