Generals Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Godfathers, 3-1
|
The Washington Generals had to overcome a good performance from Pontiac pitcher Chris Bailey to claim a 3-1 win at Washington Park. Bailey went 7.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. With the victory, the Generals upped their record to 28-19.
Had Cris Marín not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Marín hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Generals.
"Enjoyed this one," Marín told the Washington Daily. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
