Vibes Stick Generals with 3-2 Loss
|
The Rocky Mountain Vibes picked up a win at Bellevue Field, knocking off the Washington Generals, 3-2. Starting pitcher Iukekini Kaliona played a key role in the triumph. Kaliona, the winner, moves to 2-2. He threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. The Vibes raised their record to 16-23.
In the bottom of the 6th, third baseman Javier Villanueva gave Rocky Mountain the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Vibes had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out single off Washington pitcher Enrique Montoya changed that -- and Rocky Mountain went on to win.
"Iukekini was able to execute his pitches," said Rocky Mountain manager Eduardo López. "Simple as that."
