The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus got a sterling performance from pitcher Luis Barrios, but the Pontiac Godfathers still prevailed, 1-0. Barrios threw 8.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Mike Thornton, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-2. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 5 hits and no runs, while striking out 3 and walking 2. The win puts Pontiac at 23-15 this season.

Pontiac used the clutch hitting of Nick Christensen to snag the win. The shortstop drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Godfathers ahead, 1-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Hiroji Nakagawa.
