8 Straight Wins for Hermit Crabs
|
The Huntington Hermit Crabs did just enough to sneak past the Washington Generals, 5-4, at Washington Park. Huntington pitcher Guillermo Quiñones, in particular, had a standout performance. Juan González, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 3 hits. Picking up the save was Dave Davis, his 2nd.
The outcome might have been different for Huntington, had it not been for Shaun Kingsley, the 23-year old shortstop . Kingsley stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put Huntington up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Mike Evans, the Huntington manager.
The second-place Hermit Crabs have won 8 in a row.
