The performance of Lonnie Richardson proved critical in helping Washington beat Put-In-Bay, 6-2. The Generals center fielder went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times. Washington reliever Luis González picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. Ricardo Pérez was tagged with the loss. The win lifted the Washington record to 16-8.

Washington used a well-timed hit by Jim Smith to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Generals ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 2 at-bats, it was important.

Richardson called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
