Grand Forks starter Hidehira Shibutani put a stranglehold on the Yucca Valley offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Caterpillars to a 6-1 win. With the win, Grand Forks upped its record to 45-32.

Grand Forks took a 6-1 lead on Karst Haazens's 7th home run of the season. The grand slam home run came off Yucca Valley pitcher Steve Kittrell in the bottom of the seventh.

Shibutani said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
