Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Torch Field.
The Mancelona Torch got a superb performance from pitcher Alonso Álvarez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Cut Off. The Crawdads won the game, 3-2. Álvarez threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The winner in relief was Lorenzo Ramos. He is now 1-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings.
Cut Off used the clutch hitting of Bill Palmer to snag the win. The center fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Crawdads ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Cut Off manager Pancho Salaedo said.
The Crawdads go to 41-31, putting them third in the Menard's A.
