Hobeaus Win, 5-1, at Washington
|
Washington Park was the site of the home opener for the Washington Generals. The contest featured a prime matchup between Noud Taaij of the visiting Smoky Mountain Hobeaus and Tony Nelson of the Generals. The final score was 5-1, the Hobeaus getting the win. Noud Taaij turned in the best performance. Taaij got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 3 hits and walked 0 over 6 innings. Taaij allowed 1 run.
Smoky Mountain used the bat of Liang Bai to get the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Hobeaus ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
Bai attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
