Kaukini Leads Pierogis to Win
Pierogis second baseman Tao Kaukini put his stamp on his team's 9-4 win over the Athletic Club KC Academy. Kaukini went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3 for Squirrel Hill in the contest. Squirrel Hill reliever Jamal Baldwin picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Martin Elzey was tagged with the loss. Squirrel Hill is now 44-57.

Kaukini contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Squirrel Hill in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, Kaukini took a curveball from Martin Elzey and stroked the home run to left. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Pierogis to leap in front, 4-2.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Kaukini told a Squirrel Hill Gazette reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
