The Kent Comets took Niagara Falls pitcher Ken John's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Waterfall Park. The final score had Kent getting past the Expos, 4-3. John went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 6. Ward Brooks, credited with the win, is now 3-1. He allowed no runs on no hits. With the win, Kent has a record of 29-37. Niagara Falls falls to 37-29.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Elliott O'Bryan was at the plate when Kent scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Comets to go in front, 4-3.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said O'Bryan.
