The Virginia Beach Whales powered past the Northville Eclipse, 10-4, at Virginia Beach Grounds. Alonso Gómez went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 2, to lead the charge. Matt Cornett, credited with the win, is now 8-2. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits. The Whales have an impressive 63-36 record.

The Whales got an important contribution from designated hitter Walt Reed, who in the bottom of the third punched a 1-2 changeup into right for a 2-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season and put the Whales ahead, 5-2.

In postgame comments to the Virginia Beach Gazette, Reed said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
