The Syracuse Storm did just enough to secure a victory over the Belleville Bulls, 2-1, at Belleville Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Fernando Ríos. In 6 innings, Ríos surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. John Ellis locked down his 19th save.
Syracuse used the bat of He-ping Bu to capture the win. The designated hitter jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Storm ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Syracuse manager Harris Bailey.
