Expos Beat Columbia, 5-4
|
The Niagara Falls Expos had to overcome a fine effort from Columbia pitcher Yermolay Olhivsky to grab a narrow 5-4 win at Waterfall Park. Olhivsky went 7 innings and allowed 4 runs. Ramón Pacheco earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4.1 innings. His record is now 3-1. The triumph puts Niagara Falls at 25-20 for the season.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Luis Martínez came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Columbia pitcher Eric Summers, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Niagara Falls on top, 5-4.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Martínez.
