Fading Atoms Lose 8th Straight
|
The Northville Eclipse beat the Bethesda Atoms, 4-2, at Atoms Field. Northville right fielder John Kersey had an outstanding performance. He went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. The winner in relief was Nathan Eldridge. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-1. This loss makes it 8 in a row for Bethesda.
Had Jimmy McComb not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, McComb hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Eclipse.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Northville manager Harris Harden.
