Mendoza Lifts Thunder Hawks to 10-9 Win
Tony Mendoza left his imprint on the 10-9 Ft. Polk South win against the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis. Mendoza, who is tied for 5th in the PAA with a .959 OPS, was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Ft. Polk South reliever Joe Gregg picked up the win to move to 6-3. Rusty Williams suffered the loss. Ft. Polk South, now 40-39, holds down 5th place in the Premier AA.

Mendoza had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 2-1 cutter from Rusty Williams, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Thunder Hawks a 7-6 lead. It was the 17th home run of the year for Mendoza.

"I hate to be the fly in the ointment," said Mendoza, "but we could've played better."
