8-0 Loss Deepens Providence Funk
|
Virginia Beach Whales starter Daryl Benstead had all his pitches working at Virginia Beach Grounds. His stellar performance paved the way for an easy 8-0 Virginia Beach win over the Providence Pilgrims. Benstead went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 1 hit, walked 2, and struck out 1. His record improves to 7-0. Jack Elvidge notched his 2nd save in 3 chances.
In the bottom of the third, Alonso Gómez hit a 2-run home run. The 15th home run of the season for the Virginia Beach third baseman put the Whales on top, 2-0.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Benstead said.
This loss makes it 6 in a row for Providence.
