Thunder Hawks Lose By a Run at Mercer Island, 7-6
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles had to overcome a big game from Ft. Polk South left fielder Tony Mendoza to leave Mercer Island Grounds with a victory. And they did, winning 7-6. Mendoza was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Luis Gutiérrez, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 7-3. Dave Green converted his 10th save in 12 tries.

Jeremy Watson took Wynn Kelley deep in the bottom of the fifth. His 2-run home run put the Screaming Eagles on top, 3-1. In all, Watson had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"I like our moxie," said Screaming Eagles manager Vincent Parker.

The Screaming Eagles saw their win-loss record go to 46-29. At the same time, the Thunder Hawks fell to 37-38.
