Reed, Whales Too Much for Pierogis
The Virginia Beach Whales bested the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 5-4, at Field of the Rawhides. Walt Reed was one of the standouts. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The save went to Arlen Mata, number 16 for him. The Whales have an impressive 48-24 record.

Virginia Beach used a timely hit from Ronald Dacanay to get the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Whales ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Dacanay.
