Squirrel Hill left-hander Eugene Kelly helped his team edge Virginia Beach by the score of 3-2. Kelly kept the opposing lineup in check. The winner in relief was Chris McGee. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-2. Elton Ray converted his 1st save in 1 tries.
The Pierogis got a big at-bat from center fielder Stan James. For the game, James was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Squirrel Hill a 2-1 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," James told the Squirrel Hill Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
Squirrel Hill now has a 3-game win streak.
