Caterpillars Pick Up 4-3 Road Win Over Kingston
|
The Kingston Mangos got a sterling performance from pitcher Manuel Martínez, but the Grand Forks Caterpillars still prevailed, 4-3. Martínez threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Nathan Sims, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-2. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 1 run, while striking out 3 and walking 2. The loss makes Kingston 10-14.
Grand Forks used the bat of Roberto Flores to capture the win. The shortstop jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Caterpillars ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"We'll savor this win," Flores told the Grand Forks Daily, "then get ready for the next game."
