Whales Come Up Short at Squirrel Hill, 3-2
|
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis topped the Virginia Beach Whales, 3-2, in USPL Double A action at Field of the Rawhides. The game was highlighted by the performance of Squirrel Hill pitcher Bhunandana Lecamwasam. Jack Herer earned the save for Squirrel Hill, his 14th. The Pierogis now have a record of 24-31 with the win over Virginia Beach.
Freddie Cupp was 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Squirrel Hill. The 22-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Manuel García. It was his 24th RBI of the season.
Lecamwasam told a Squirrel Hill Gazette reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
