Andrew Rijerkerk was a vital contributor to the 5-2 Richland victory over Squirrel Hill. The Rails third baseman went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Héctor Salazar notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 4.2 innings. His record now sits at 1-1. Todd Wilcox collected save number 1.
Rijerkerk contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Richland in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 1-0, Rijerkerk took a cutter from Júlio del Bosque and stroked the double to center. His 9th double of the season allowed the Rails to leap in front, 2-1.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Rijerkerk told the Richland News.
