Kent Comets starter Micheal Ford turned in an exceptional performance against the Yucca Valley Yellows at Fuller Park, resulting in a Kent win, 4-0. The winning pitcher was Ford, now 2-1. He tossed 5.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 4. With the win, Kent upped its record to 12-9.

The Yellows had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Comets going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old shortstop Phil Hernández came to the plate. Hernández hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch fastball from Yucca Valley hurler Hang-ki Cong. It was Hernández's 1st home run of the year.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Hernández said.
