The Richland Rails got a superb performance from pitcher Mochihito Sato, but the Virginia Beach Whales still won the game, 4-2. Sato threw 5.0 innings allowing 4 runs. The winner was Virginia Beach reliever Liu-liang Lei, now 2-1. The loser was Mochihito Sato. Arlen Mata was credited with the save for Virginia Beach, his 11th of the season.

The Whales got an important contribution from left fielder Neung-uk Yi, who in the bottom of the first punched a first pitch fastball into left-center for a 2-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Whales ahead, 3-0.

Yi told a Virginia Beach Gazette reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.

Virginia Beach now has a 5-game win streak.
