The Virginia Beach Whales relied on the hitting of catcher Luis Reyes to stop the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 6-1. For the game, Reyes went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The 'W' lifts Virginia Beach's record to 20-11.
Virginia Beach used the timely hitting of Dan Parker to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Whales on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It feels good to get this one," Reyes told the Virginia Beach Gazette.
