Whales Take Down Eclipse, 8-5
|
Virginia Beach took on Northville in front of a lively crowd.
The Virginia Beach Whales beat the Northville Eclipse by a score of 8-5. Virginia Beach center fielder Ricardo Hernández deserved the lion's share of the credit. Hernández went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Whales. Arlen Mata recorded the save for Virginia Beach, his 6th of the season.
Virginia Beach right fielder George McLean contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball into left field for a 2-run double. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Whales ahead, 6-3.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Hernández told the Virginia Beach Gazette.
The win puts the Whales at 19-11, while the Eclipse drop to 13-17.
