Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Whales
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Virginia Beach Whales and Richland Rails.
The Virginia Beach Whales got a stellar performance from pitcher Norm Wells, who handcuffed the Richland offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Rails Ballpark. Arlen Mata finished to wrap up his 4th save.
It could have been a different outcome for Virginia Beach, had it not been for Ricardo Hernández, the 22-year old center fielder . Hernández contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Virginia Beach up, 2-1.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Wells.
The Whales have an impressive 16-9 record.
