The Squirrel Hill Pierogis defeated the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 4-1, in USPL Double A action at Mercer Island Grounds. Squirrel Hill pitcher Andrés García had a standout performance. García picked up the win for Squirrel Hill, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 2-2. The 8th-place Pierogis are 10-13.
The result might have been different for Squirrel Hill, had it not been for Stanley Good, the 23-year old third baseman . Good stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Squirrel Hill up, 3-1. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
