Bethesda Beats Squirrel Hill, 2-0
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Bethesda Atoms and the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, pitcher Bob O'Bryan was the difference between victory and defeat. The Bethesda left-hander earned accolades in the 2-0 Atoms win. The save went to Stu Washington, number 2 for him. The win gives Bethesda a record of 10-10.
Bethesda used a clutch hit from Byron Shadix to snatch the win. The right fielder belted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Atoms ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"I felt good up there," said Shadix. "I saw the ball well."
