The Yucca Valley Yellows had to overcome a fine performance from Syracuse pitcher Fernando Ríos to grab a 2-1 win at Storm Park. Ríos allowed 1 run over 8 innings. Sun-ho Yang earned save number 1 this season. The win gives Yucca Valley a record of 5-7.
Runs were scarce in this one. So, Okakura Samurakami's at-bat in the top of the tenth was vitally important. With one out, the Yucca Valley second baseman hit a sacrifice fly, to give his team a 2-1 lead.
Samurakami called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
