Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Pilgrims
The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis got a superb performance from pitcher Kent Woods. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Providence. The Pilgrims won the game, 8-3. Woods threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Wayland Whitlock snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 2-0 on the season. For the Mariachis, the loss makes their record 6-10.

Hou Thian contributed to the Providence win with a grand slam home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 runs batted in.
