Whales Lose By a Run at Mercer Island, 4-3
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles picked up a win at Mercer Island Grounds, taking down the Virginia Beach Whales, 4-3. Starting pitcher Miguel López was a big reason why. Mercer Island reliever Mitch Henley picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Bill Lawrence absorbed the loss. Virginia Beach falls to 2-4.

Juan Tilve drove in one run for Mercer Island. The 24-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bill Lawrence. It was his 2nd RBI of the season.

"I liked his command," said Mercer Island manager Vincent Parker. "Miguel was throwing strikes."
