The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles overcame a good performance by Virginia Beach center fielder Ricardo Hernández to knock off Virginia Beach, 5-4, at Mercer Island Grounds. Hernández went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Mark Finley, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. Mercer Island took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Alex Williamson hit a clutch 3-run home run to bring Screaming Eagles fans to their feet.
