Toledo got a terrific game from right fielder Ron Buchanan. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Gwinnett, 6-3. Buchanan was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. The Guinea Pigs lead the Silver AA by 3½ games.

Arhippa Rintala, the 23-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Rintala contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put Gwinnett up, 3-2.

"Been a rough stretch for us," said Toledo manager Will Thomas.
