Cangrejos Fantasmas Bump Off Ogres, 6-3
|
A good performance from third baseman Roberto Torres helped the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas defeat the Olympia Ogres, 6-3. Torres went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Cangrejos Fantasmas. Gene Greene got credit for the win, improving to 7-9. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 5.2 innings. Chesapeake, at 55-45, holds down 4th place in the Silver AA.
Torres contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Chesapeake in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-1, Torres took a fastball from Juan Barrón and stroked the home run to left-center. His 9th home run of the season allowed the Cangrejos Fantasmas to leap in front, 5-3.
In postgame remarks, Torres said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
