Cangrejos Fantasmas Need Extra Innings to Top Guinea Pigs, 3-1
|
The Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas got a stellar effort from pitcher Eddy Boyd, helping Chesapeake score a win over the visiting Gwinnett Guinea Pigs, 3-1. Chesapeake pitcher Ray Armstrong got the win, upping his record to 5-2. Francisco Díaz got the loss. Chesapeake is now 53-43, Gwinnett 67-29.
Greg O'Day electrified the crowd in the bottom of the 11th when he took Gwinnett pitcher Francisco Díaz deep. His 2-run home run sent the Cangrejos Fantasmas home winners.
During his postgame press conference, Cangrejos Fantasmas manager Brian Cameron told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
