The Marquette Miners weathered a fine game by Minnesota third baseman Víctor Pagueros to upend the Loons, 5-4, at Loony Bin. Pagueros was 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Marquette reliever Hai-liang Che picked up the win to move to 2-11. Clayton Horne suffered the loss. The 8th-place Miners go to 37-52.
Marquette used the clutch hitting of Mark Curry to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to give the Miners the lead, 5-4. For the game, Curry had 2 singles and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
Curry told a Marquette Herald reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
