Cangrejos Fantasmas Win at Westwood, 6-2
|
The exploits of catcher Salvador Rúbio helped the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas defeat the Westwood Sixshooters, 6-2. Rúbio went 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Vicente Medina, the winner, improved to 8-1. He held the Sixshooters to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Sidd Finch recorded the save for Chesapeake, his 12th of the season.
Chesapeake relied on the hitting of Alfred Espinosa to pick up the win. The second baseman ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cangrejos Fantasmas on top, 4-2. For the game, Espinosa had 1 triple and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Chesapeake manager Brian Cameron.
The Sixshooters, at 37-46, have lost 6 straight games.
