Saboteurs Beat Fur Traders, 7-4
|
Getting a good performance from left fielder António Méndez, the Toledo Saboteurs defeated the Tacoma Fur Traders, 7-4. Méndez went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Saboteurs. Darwin McGinnity earned the win to go to 5-5. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts in 8 innings of work. James Spencer was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 11 save opportunities.
With Toledo leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Méndez hit a fastball from Norberto Duarte for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Saboteurs ahead, 7-2.
"Getting the win feels nice," said Méndez. "More importantly, I had a good game."
After today's action, Toledo sits at 27-38; Tacoma slips to 39-26.
