Guinea Pigs Lose By a Run at Marquette, 3-2
|
The Marquette Miners took Gwinnett pitcher Jorge Cambeiro's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Marquette Stadium. The final score had Marquette getting past the Guinea Pigs, 3-2. Cambeiro went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 5. The winner was Jong-beom Park in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Ron Plummer took the loss. Hai-liang Che closed the game out for Marquette, earning his 13th save.
Marquette took a 3-2 lead on Héctor Solís's 2nd triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Solís hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Gwinnett pitcher Ron Plummer shaking his head.
Afterward, Miners manager Billy Strauss was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The win puts Marquette at 24-38.
