6-3 Loss Extends Gulf Coast Skid
|
St. Petersburg and Gulf Coast duked it out and the Thunder came out victorious.
The St. Petersburg Thunder topped the Gulf Coast Turbeaus by a score of 6-3. Leading the way was designated hitter Travis Gilliam. Gilliam was 2 for 4 with a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Thunder. Shusui Suzuki, credited with the save, is now 5 for 5 in save opportunities.
The Thunder got a big hit from right fielder Getoff Mylawn. In the bottom of the fifth, Mylawn pounded a 3-run home run to left. His 14th home run of the season put the Thunder ahead, 6-3.
In postgame comments to the St. Petersburg Daily News, Mylawn said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Turbeaus, at 17-45, have lost 7 in a row.
