The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs beat the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas, 8-3, at Ghost Crab Park. The win was due in part to center fielder Markus Anderson, who was 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Tyrone Tolbert, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-2. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Jon Smith picked up the save for Gwinnett, his 1st of the year.

Anderson contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Gwinnett in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Anderson took a fastball from Shusui Gato and stroked the home run to left-center. His 11th home run of the season allowed the Guinea Pigs to leap in front, 4-3.

"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Anderson told the Gwinnett Today.

The first-place Guinea Pigs have won 5 in a row.
