Guinea Pigs Stymie Westwood, Take 7-0 Win
|
Gwinnett Guinea Pigs pitcher Greg Ayala was in fine form, leading his team past the Westwood Sixshooters, 7-0. Ayala, now 3-2, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 9, walking 4, and allowing no runs. Picking up the save was Ron Holland, his 1st.
Jerry Scott swatted a 2-run double for Gwinnett in the bottom of the third. The right fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 3.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Gwinnett manager Tabor de Maria.
With the win, Gwinnett upped its record to 31-15.
