Red-Hot Sixshooters Win 7th Straight
|
Tacoma got a terrific performance from pitcher Martín Colón, but it wasn't enough to beat the Westwood Sixshooters. Westwood won the Ballpark of Tacoma contest, 5-3. Colón threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Alfredo Gonzáles, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Liu-liang Liu closed the door for Westwood, picking up his 3rd save of the year.
Westwood used the timely hitting of Chun-yeong Pyon to capture the win. The third baseman stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Sixshooters on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We did a lot of things right," said Pyon.
The Sixshooters have now won 7 straight.
