Miners Upend Sixshooters, 5-4
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Marquette Miners and Westwood Sixshooters.
Getting a good performance from left fielder Mark Curry, the Marquette Miners defeated the Westwood Sixshooters, 5-4. Curry went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Miners. Marquette reliever Christian Hebert was the winner. His record is now 3-2. The losing pitcher was Ulbert Pals.
Marquette took a 5-2 lead on Curry's 8th home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Ulbert Pals in the top of the eighth, propelled Marquette to the win.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Marquette manager Billy Strauss.
The Miners, at 18-19, sit in 6th place in the Silver AA.
