Love Boats Sink Blimps, 3-1

The Lake Minnetonka Love Boats defeated the Akron Blimps, 3-1, in M3L Double A action at Heron Field. Lake Minnetonka pitcher Manuel Martínez had a standout performance. In 6 innings, Martínez surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. The win puts Lake Minnetonka at 56-46 this season.
With runs few and far between, the Love Boats had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Lake Minnetonka came in the bottom of the second inning, when center fielder Mike Shiplack delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Micheal Ford and made the score 1-0, Love Boats. Shiplack was 1-2 with a walk.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Lake Minnetonka skipper Javier Martínez.
