Blimps Top Ottawa, 4-3
|
The Akron Blimps racked up a win at Nationals Park, bumping off the Ottawa Nationals, 4-3. Cédric Barbot, who started for Akron, pitched effectively for his team. Bill Williams got the save, the 14th for him this season. Akron is 52-44 and Ottawa, with the loss, 32-64.
Walt Pritchard drew 1 walk in 5 plate appearances for Akron. The 23-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Pedro Maestas. It was his 24th RBI of the season.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Pritchard told the Akron Daily News.
