Highlanders Win, 5-3, at Crescent City

The Asheville Highlanders picked up a win at Field of the Krewe, knocking off the Crescent City Krewe, 5-3. Starting pitcher Jack Handey was a big reason why. Micheal Smith, credited with the win, is now 4-2. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits. The save went to Tom Young, number 12 for him.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Mike Minor came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Crescent City pitcher Shao-zu Chow, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Asheville on top, 5-3.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Handey.
Crescent City's current losing streak has reached 5 games.
